{"id":1001,"date":"2014-06-20T10:38:20","date_gmt":"2014-06-20T18:38:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=1001"},"modified":"2014-06-20T10:39:07","modified_gmt":"2014-06-20T18:39:07","slug":"music-friday-happy-birthday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/music-friday-happy-birthday\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Friday &#8211; Happy Birthday&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/music-friday-happy-birthday\/\" data-text=\"Music Friday &#038;%238211; Happy Birthday&#038;%238230;\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8230;Belated&#8230;to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_McCartney\" target=\"_blank\">Sir Paul McCartney<\/a> who turned 72 this week. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/3Xpeami317s\" target=\"_blank\">Happy Birthday to you!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It would be nearly impossible to overstate the success that Paul McCartney has had in music. \u00a0Whether his music is defined as art or business, or whether \u00a0the artist himself is defined as a composer or performer, Paul McCartney is one of the most prolific, popular and influential musicians of all time. \u00a0However, one can&#8217;t think of McCartney without also thinking of The Beatles &#8211; a band that is a rock icon in it&#8217;s own right. \u00a0In the light of history, the Beatles episode would only turn out to be McCartney&#8217;s overture. \u00a0It seemed like The Beatles served merely as a showcase for Lennon&#8217;s and McCartney&#8217;s talent, often to the consternation of Ringo and George. \u00a0Perhaps their breakup after all was a blessing since afterward we were able to fully experience the offerings of all four bandmates.<\/p>\n<p>Not intending this to be a complete McCartney biography, I do intend to focus on his &#8220;birth&#8221; as a solo artist with some of his first solo works released post-Beatles. Per my usual format I have selected three songs that may be slightly obscure, \u00a0since I&#8217;d like to show you something you may not have heard before, or at least something you haven&#8217;t heard in a while or very often.<\/p>\n<p>First up is a song from Pauls&#8217; first solo album <em>McCartney,\u00a0<\/em>sometimes known as the &#8220;cherries&#8221; album because of the cover art. \u00a0This is the album that produced the mega-hit <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/cm2YyVZBL8U\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Maybe I&#8217;m Amazed<\/em><\/a>; \u00a0perhaps you&#8217;ve heard it a time or two over the past 40 years &#8211; unless you&#8217;ve been in a cave.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhoo&#8230;this song is titled &#8220;Teddy Boy&#8221;. \u00a0Enjoy:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gU86F44tqDE\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Next up area a couple songs from his second album, <em>Ram<\/em>. \u00a0This album was quite successful and several songs from this album made the charts, notably <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/XI6C7L66zq8\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Uncle Albert\/Admiral Halsey<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/JodPHplACCE\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Another Day<\/em><\/a>. \u00a0The first track is <em>Too Many People<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ui0Kru-EsQs\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now that I think about it, that track may have also reached the charts &#8211; I seem to recall it getting some radio play. \u00a0though I could be mis-remembering because I listend to the crap out of this ablbum when it came out. \u00a0The final birthday offering is <em>Ram On:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2Swl9Iqh6DQ\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Doesn&#8217;t he make it seem effortless? \u00a0He had no formal music training, was (is?) largely self-taught, plays guitars, bass, keyboards and drums. \u00a0So, again, Happy Birthday! \u00a0And THANKS!<\/p>\n<p>PS &#8211; You may wish to click on the <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/XI6C7L66zq8\" target=\"_blank\">Admiral Halsey link<\/a> &#8211; the YouTube video contains what looks like some PM home video that I hadn&#8217;t seen before. \u00a0Interesting! -MS<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet &#8230;Belated&#8230;to Sir Paul McCartney who turned 72 this week. \u00a0Happy Birthday to you!
