{"id":137,"date":"2014-03-10T19:33:29","date_gmt":"2014-03-11T03:33:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=137"},"modified":"2014-03-10T19:33:29","modified_gmt":"2014-03-11T03:33:29","slug":"in-california-utopia-is-just-a-bottle-ban-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/in-california-utopia-is-just-a-bottle-ban-away\/","title":{"rendered":"In California, Utopia is just a  bottle ban away"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/in-california-utopia-is-just-a-bottle-ban-away\/\" data-text=\"In California, Utopia is just a%2520bottle ban away\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>Let us stipulate that California is a lovely place to live. \u00a0And further let us agree that people are free to believe whatever they like. \u00a0But it gets harder and harder to stay here due to the fact that some of the people in power here believe some of the stupidest things. \u00a0Among the majorities in the city councils of our most populous cities, and in the Democratic majorities in both houses of our state legislature there are, in my opinion some seriously fuzzy headed thinkers. \u00a0Which in and of itself should not pose a problem, since as I stated earlier I believe they are free to believe what they wish. \u00a0The problem comes when they deign to impose their fallacies on everyone in the name of their utopian thinking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/02\/26\/us\/plastic-bags-come-under-siege-in-california.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\">There is a plan afoot to ban plastic shopping bags<\/a> &#8211; First they came for the paper shopping bags and I said nothing, because I preferred plastic. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/political\/la-me-pc-agreement-reached-on-banning-plastic-carryout-grocery-bags-20140123,0,3607652.story#axzz2vcY8UmBi\" target=\"_blank\">Now there is a bill <\/a>in the state assembly that will impose a statewide ban on disposable plastic shopping bags. \u00a0Because they take up to much room in the landfill or something. \u00a0THERE IS NO GOOD REASON TO DO THIS (caps intended). \u00a0If you believe there is, you are wrong. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/uanews.org\/story\/reusable-grocery-bags-contaminated-e-coli-other-bacteria\" target=\"_blank\">Never mind that environmentally friendly reusable shopping bags cause the spread of e. coli, norovirus and salmonella. \u00a0<\/a>This constitutes a serious public health risk.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_138\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?attachment_id=138\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-138\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-138\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-138\" alt=\"Public Enemy #1\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/plastic-bottle-300x180.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/plastic-bottle-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/plastic-bottle-150x90.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/plastic-bottle.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-138\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Public Enemy #1<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now their sights are set on plastic water bottles &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2014\/03\/05\/us-usa-california-water-idUSBREA2409820140305\" target=\"_blank\">the San Francisco city council has banned the sale of plastic water bottles<\/a> on municipal property and will pursue a city wide ban. \u00a0For no reason other than some people don&#8217;t like these and so you shouldn&#8217;t either. \u00a0Oh, they have their reasons, but they are nonsensical. \u00a0Supervisor David Chiu&#8217;s reason is that it takes 1,000 years for 1 bottle to bio-degrade!!!!!! \u00a0That&#8217;s a long time! \u00a0I have an idea that makes just as much sense. \u00a0Just pass a law stating that a year will now be 365,000 days long. \u00a0Now those pesky bottles will degrade in only a single year. \u00a0That&#8217;s more like it!
