You or Your TV?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/whos-smarter-tv\/\" data-text=\"Who&#038;%238217;s Smarter%3f%2520You or Your TV%3f\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Who&#8217;s smarter? \u00a0You or your TV? \u00a0You or your phone? \u00a0You or your (fill in the blank)?<\/p>\n<p>We are on the verge of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Internet_of_Things\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Internet Of Things<\/a> where more and more everyday devices we use become &#8220;smart&#8221; and collect data about us which they transmit to a central collection point somewhere all in the cause of creating for us a better &#8220;user experience&#8221; or a more convenient life.<\/p>\n<p>So if you want to buy a &#8220;Smart&#8221; TV because you need that extra convenience of being able to speak to it instead of wearing out your fingers on the remote, you&#8217;re in luck. \u00a0 \u00a0Such gadgets are available from major manufacturers including Samsung. \u00a0And if your able to speak to it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/uk\/news\/samsungs-warning-our-smart-tvs-record-your-living-room-chatter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it&#8217;s going to have to be able to listen to you, right<\/a>? \u00a0And in order to obey you, it&#8217;s going to have to understand you. \u00a0And in order to understand you, it&#8217;s going to have to learn about you.<\/p>\n<p>So? \u00a0What could possibly go wrong? \u00a0I mean, as long as I gets to watch me some TeeVee, it&#8217;s all good.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, it&#8217;s all good <em>now<\/em>. \u00a0As more and more data is collected the potential for it&#8217;s abuse grows. \u00a0One thing we know for sure is that if something can be abused, it will be abused. \u00a0That, my friends is a lead pipe cinch. \u00a0First comes prediction, then manipulation, then outright control.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7qnd-hdmgfk\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So when your smart thermostat won&#8217;t let you turn the heat up, or your smart car won&#8217;t drive you to McDonald&#8217;s, or your smart bottle opener won&#8217;t open your beer (all for your own good), don&#8217;t come whining to me. \u00a0Of course, I suppose if a smart tv keeps just one person from watching <em>Keeping Up With The Kardashians<\/em> it will all be worth it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet &nbsp; Who&#8217;s smarter? \u00a0You or your TV? \u00a0You or your phone? \u00a0You or your (fill in the blank)?
