1975 BillBoard Hot 100 Edition &#038;%238211; The End Of The Line (Part2 of 2)\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>OK, let&#8217;s pick up from where we left off yesterday. \u00a0If you didn&#8217;t read yesterday&#8217;s post, scroll down below this post and read Part 1 or click<a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=1984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At first glance 1975 looks like a soup of Bublegum Pop, Folk, Rock Ballads maybe a little heavy on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=794\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schlock<\/a>. \u00a0I usually like my schlock on the side, but 1975 is fairly drenched in it. \u00a0Oh well&#8230;it&#8217;s too late to send it back now. \u00a0There are bright spots, though &#8211; there&#8217;s something for everyone here. \u00a0And there&#8217;s nothing too strange unlike 1974&#8217;s chart. \u00a0Wait. \u00a0With one exception &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/zLMYcqBmiX8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Lovin&#8217; You<\/em><\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Minnie_Riperton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnie Riperton<\/a>, a song hated by dogs worldwide. \u00a0Ripperton is definitely NOT <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/7PCkvCPvDXk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all about dat bass bout dat bass no treble<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There were no long running #1&#8217;s, with only 9 songs at #1 for more than one week, and of those 9 only 5 stayed at #1 longer than two weeks. \u00a0The longest stint at #1 belonged to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Captain_%26_Tennille\">The Captain and Tennille<\/a> for <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/MwUpxDtQgT8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Love Will Keep Us Together<\/em>. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cough <em>*schlock*<\/em> Cough.<\/p>\n<p>The award for artist or group with most #1&#8217;s goes to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elton_John\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elton John<\/a> who had three #1&#8217;s: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/Ic2hlOwCif4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds<\/em><\/a> (2 weeks), <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/9jiUlJuX-O0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Philadelphia Freedom<\/em><\/a> (2 weeks), and <a href=\"http:\/\/&lt;iframe width=&quot;560&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; src=&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LGChI9wWXtM?si=LtJJqiQaPBvqEDUK&quot; title=&quot;YouTube video player&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; allow=&quot;accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share&quot; referrerpolicy=&quot;strict-origin-when-cross-origin&quot; allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Island Girl<\/em> <\/a>(3 weeks). \u00a0Three other artists or groups had a song each that stayed at #1 for three weeks apiece: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tony_Orlando_and_Dawn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tony Orlando &amp; Dawn<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/01S5a95w92I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>He Don&#8217;t Love You<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Neil_Sedaka\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neil Sedaka<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/YTTVx--i3m0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Bad Blood<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Silver_Convention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Silver Convention<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/&lt;iframe width=&quot;560&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; src=&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n8XrB3u7oZY?si=XTtGRL-UanFHGhFU&quot; title=&quot;YouTube video player&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; allow=&quot;accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share&quot; referrerpolicy=&quot;strict-origin-when-cross-origin&quot; allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Fly, Robin, Fly<\/em><\/a>. \u00a0Who? \u00a0With what? \u00a0Yeah, I know. \u00a0 \u00a0All of these are wonderful songs&#8230;to someone, I&#8217;m sure. \u00a0Just not to me. \u00a0Even being a big Elton John fan, those songs don&#8217;t really excite me. \u00a0I can take &#8217;em or leave &#8217;em. \u00a0So the most popular music of 1975 was not popular with me. \u00a0It&#8217;s not because I wasn&#8217;t exposed to it at the time &#8211; I was. \u00a0AM radio was still a significant source of music because of the relative scarcity of FM radios and personal and\/or portable sound systems. \u00a0I remember these songs, I just don&#8217;t particularly like them.<\/p>\n<p>Did I like anything about 1975? \u00a0Yes, I did. \u00a0I liked this:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/km4-eKvv3EM\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And this:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XIycEe59Auc\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And this:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cLOpFOxwjxM?si=Ln8dud6rhZsx84cR\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So, I declare the &#8220;winner &#8221;
