{"id":2273,"date":"2018-03-23T12:17:58","date_gmt":"2018-03-23T20:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=2273"},"modified":"2022-06-05T13:19:20","modified_gmt":"2022-06-05T21:19:20","slug":"music-friday-random-one-hit-wonder-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/music-friday-random-one-hit-wonder-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Friday &#8211; random one-hit wonder edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/music-friday-random-one-hit-wonder-edition\/\" data-text=\"Music Friday &#038;%238211; random one-hit wonder edition\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>Yep, it&#8217;s Music Friday. \u00a0Like a true &#8217;60s Refugee I will delve in to the 1969 BillBoard Hot 100 and deliver a one hit wonder from an American band that flirted briefly with fame and fortune: The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Colony_Six\">New Colony Six<\/a>. \u00a0Six guys from Chicago with a dream &#8211; and at least one decent song. \u00a0When I was in the 7th grade I probably heard this song on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/KROY_(defunct)\">KROY<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/KXOA\">KXOA<\/a> but I honestly don&#8217;t remember it from then. \u00a0I heard it recently on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sirius_Satellite_Radio\">Sirius XM sattelite radio<\/a> where you can come full circle and listen to AM radio all over again, just with better speakers. \u00a0I&#8217;m still hoping for cassettes to make a comeback BTW.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XZqwMt1kCDM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Like most groups in the 1960s, these guys had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/schtick\">schtick<\/a> which was their colonial costumes similar to what <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Revere_%26_the_Raiders\">Paul Revere and the Raiders<\/a> wore. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know if they imitated PR&amp;R or if it was the other way around, but Paul Revere and the Raiders were certainly more&#8230;popular. \u00a0Well known. \u00a0Successful? I guess, but that might have boiled down simply to better management rather than an advantage in talent. \u00a0Whatever.
