{"id":342,"date":"2014-04-03T14:07:45","date_gmt":"2014-04-03T22:07:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=342"},"modified":"2014-04-03T14:07:45","modified_gmt":"2014-04-03T22:07:45","slug":"this-should-scare-the-sht-out-of-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/this-should-scare-the-sht-out-of-you\/","title":{"rendered":"This should scare the sh*t out of you&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/this-should-scare-the-sht-out-of-you\/\" data-text=\"This should scare the sh*t out of you&#038;%238230;\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8230;whether you are liberal or conservative, democrat or republican (or anything else).<\/p>\n<p>A sitting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/volokh-conspiracy\/wp\/2014\/04\/02\/breyers-dangerous-dissent-in-mccutcheon-the-campaign-finance-case\/\" target=\"_blank\">Supreme Court Justice asserts that the 1st Ammendment is a &#8220;collective&#8221;<\/a> right that exists not to prevent government abuses, but to ensure that \u201dpublic opinion could be channeled into effective governmental action.\u201d Scary enough. \u00a0Even scarier is that 3 other sitting Justices agreed with that opinion. \u00a0The initial Justice is Steven Breyer and the quotes are from his dissenting opinion in the recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/13pdf\/12-536_e1pf.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>McCutcheon<\/em><\/a> decision which has to do with campaign contributions and the constitutionality of limits thereto.<\/p>\n<p>It is amazing to what lengths Progressive Liberals will go in order to justify their collectivist Oligarchich schemes. \u00a0Breyer&#8217;s assertions stand the First Ammendment on it&#8217;s head. \u00a0If the purpose if the 1st Ammendment were to ensure that the &#8220;collective&#8221; (read &#8220;majority&#8221; or \u00a0better yet &#8220;mob&#8221;) could channel their public opinion into effective government action why would it start out with &#8220;Congress Shall Make No Law&#8230;&#8221;? \u00a0Sounds like the intent was to impede &#8220;effective government action&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.&#8221; &#8211; First Ammendment<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you have read the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Federalist_Papers\" target=\"_blank\">Federalist Papers<\/a> you should understand that the founder&#8217;s intent was the exact opposite of Breyer&#8217;s assertion of the right of collective speech in order to bring about effective governement action. \u00a0The founders feared &#8220;the tyranny of the majority&#8221; and therefore wanted to <em>inhibit<\/em> any government action unless it could be broadly agreed upon <em>by all parties<\/em> after being rigorously weighed and debated. \u00a0The intent was protection of the rights of the <em>individual<\/em>. Not exactly the opposite, as Breyer asserts. \u00a0And the fact that four of nine Justices support this opinion should scare you because all of our individual <em>inalienable<\/em> rights apparently are \u00a0hanging by a thread.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet &#8230;whether you are liberal or conservative, democrat or republican (or anything else).
