{"id":668,"date":"2014-05-15T12:51:48","date_gmt":"2014-05-15T20:51:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=668"},"modified":"2014-05-15T13:10:49","modified_gmt":"2014-05-15T21:10:49","slug":"some-stuff-about-blogging-in-general","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/some-stuff-about-blogging-in-general\/","title":{"rendered":"EGO VERO: How a search for truth led me to blogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/some-stuff-about-blogging-in-general\/\" data-text=\"EGO VERO: How a search for truth led me to blogging\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>Apparently since I am over 50, I am a dinosaur as are most of my family and acquaintances. \u00a0I know this is true because when I tell people I know to read my blog, they say &#8220;what&#8217;s a blog?&#8221; \u00a0I am so screwed &#8211; since I don&#8217;t write about Beyonce or Justin Bieber no one under thirty will ever read this and no one over thirty knows what a blog is. \u00a0So let me tell you a little bit about how I found out about blogs, became a reader of blogs and then went on to blogging.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?attachment_id=677\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-677\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-677\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/i-blog.jpg\" alt=\"i blog\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/i-blog.jpg 160w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/i-blog-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have never thought of myself as an early adopter of technology but I have been using the internet since the early 1990&#8217;s. \u00a0Thinking about it now, it was the dawn of time. \u00a0My chosen portal: AOL, now just a footnote to history. \u00a0I started out reading what they called &#8220;newsgroups&#8221; which were kind of like discussion boards where someone would post an article or website adress, people would read and discuss. \u00a0Usually I would &#8220;lurk&#8221; in these newsgroups, a term that means to look in, read the article and discussion but not participate &#8211; if you don&#8217;t speak up, no one knows you&#8217;re there. \u00a0This evolved into general web surfing and a few sites helped fuel that, mainly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drudgereport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Drudge Report<\/a> (which started out mainly as movie industry news and gossip) with it&#8217;s many links to news stories. \u00a0Another was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucianne.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lucianne.com<\/a> founded by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jonah_Goldberg\" target=\"_blank\">Jonah Goldberg&#8217;s<\/a> mother, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lucianne_Goldberg\" target=\"_blank\">Lucianne Goldberg<\/a>. \u00a0It&#8217;s still around. \u00a0Finally, sometime in the early 2000&#8217;s a Radio Talk Show host I listen to named <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hughhewitt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hugh Hewitt<\/a> began talking about this new thing on the internet with a funny name. \u00a0Blobs?
