{"id":683,"date":"2014-07-23T12:02:19","date_gmt":"2014-07-23T20:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=683"},"modified":"2014-07-23T12:02:19","modified_gmt":"2014-07-23T20:02:19","slug":"thanking-ancestors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/thanking-ancestors\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanking My Ancestors&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/thanking-ancestors\/\" data-text=\"Thanking My Ancestors&#038;%238230;\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>Today I am thanking my ancestors&#8230;all of them&#8230; for choices they made and actions they took that lead to me being here now.<\/p>\n<p>I have always known some details about my family history at least as far back as their arrival in the US from Europe in the late 19th Century. \u00a0My mother&#8217;s side of the family is quite large since her grandparents, the emigres, had eight children. \u00a0Thus her father, my Grandfather had lots of siblings and that meant my mom had lots of cousins. \u00a0Most of these she was not close to, first geographically and because of that socially. \u00a0No Facebook then. \u00a0My little branch of the family kept close to only a handfull, mainly the children of my mother&#8217;s immediate siblings. \u00a0In the past few months I have had the good fortune to come into contact with a cousin I had not known or known of. \u00a0His grandfather was one of my grandfather&#8217;s brothers, and thus was my mother&#8217;s uncle. \u00a0Sorry for having taken so long to lay the background, but the point is that my cousin has taken a lot ot time and effort to document the family tree, and because of that I know the unions of four couples has generated a family of over 1100 people. \u00a01100 lives!<\/p>\n<p>Even the wisest of us cannot see all ends. \u00a0Decisions we make or actions we take today will affect hundreds if not thousands of our descendants years and longer into the future. \u00a0Unseen and unknown to us and possibly each other, the course they set out upon will be influenced by what we do today. \u00a0When they look back, will we be thanked?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet Today I am thanking my ancestors&#8230;all of them&#8230; for choices they made and actions they took that lead to me being here now.
