\u00a0I mean, what else could it be? \u00a0Here&#8217;s an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/05\/stunning-photos-of-the-internets-hidden-infrastructure\/?mbid=social_twitter\" target=\"_blank\">article at Wired.com with some pictures<\/a> of the inside of a large data center in Spain and&#8230;yep. \u00a0A bunch of machines. \u00a0I feel kind of ripped off. \u00a0Like the feeling I have when I realize the jet packs and flying cars I so looked forward to when I was a child not only don&#8217;t exist, but probably won&#8217;t in my lifetime. \u00a0<em>Rrripped off.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Of course, I suppose a bunch of machines and wires is better than what might be in store for us if the movies are any predictor of the future. \u00a0These hollywood machines run the gamut from murder and mayhem to simple senility and incompetence. \u00a0Kind of like me on a Monday. \u00a0Let&#8217;s look at a few shall we? *Mike levels the .38 and pulls the hammer back*<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s HAL 9000, the red-eyed murdering monster that knows better than you from <em>2001: A Space Odyssey. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ARJ8cAGm6JE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>2001!! \u00a0Were they wrong! \u00a0In 2001 I had a Packard Bell PC with a 500MB hard drive and a dot matrix printer. \u00a0I could easily have kicked it&#8217;s ass. \u00a0But I digress&#8230;In <em>Rollerball<\/em> we have the less malevolent but rather disorganized and forgetful Computer Zero, where the Corporations that rule the world of the future have hoarded All The Information:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qmTWhvWgST0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yeah..try calling Tech Support when that thing springs a leak. \u00a0More recently from <em>I, Robot<\/em> we have VIKI, another violence prone misunderstood do-gooder who (which?
