{"id":913,"date":"2014-06-10T15:00:59","date_gmt":"2014-06-10T23:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/?p=913"},"modified":"2014-06-10T15:22:57","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T23:22:57","slug":"ignoring-sand-crotch-lifes-swimsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/ignoring-sand-crotch-lifes-swimsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Ignoring the sand in the crotch of life&#8217;s swimsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"TweetButton_button\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"  data-url=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/ignoring-sand-crotch-lifes-swimsuit\/\" data-text=\"Ignoring the sand in the crotch of life&#038;%238217;s swimsuit\" data-lang=\"en\">Tweet<\/a><br \/>\n<script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,\"script\",\"twitter-wjs\");<\/script><\/div>\n<p>If there is anyone out there who hasn&#8217;t given up on me yet, you may now be a step closer to doing so. \u00a0I hear you asking &#8220;what is he on about with ignoring the sand in the crotch of life&#8217;s swimsuit?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In my never ending quest to find subjects about which to write or areas where truth may be sought out, I read a blog post at Althouse entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/why-should-we-succumb-to-what-virginia.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Why Should We Succumb To What Virginia Postrel Calls The &#8220;Seduction&#8221; and &#8220;Glamour&#8221; Of Travel<\/em><\/a>, which was in turn about an article called <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/travel-hospitality\/the-glamour-of-getting-away-8db55a9689c5\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Glamour of Getting Away<\/em><\/a> by Virginia Postrel on Medium.com. \u00a0One of the points in Postrel&#8217;s article which sparked debate at Althouse was an assertion that the &#8220;glamour&#8221; of travel is what &#8220;seduces&#8221; us to do it, and that certain air of illusion must be crafted so the aura of glamour isn&#8217;t tarnished. \u00a0And that illusion of glamour is essential lest we not be seduced. \u00a0 From the article:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8);\">&#8220;Glamour can rightly be only a guide, not a destination.
