I&#8217;m talking about the 2015 Jaguar F-type V-6 coupe. \u00a0OK, let me back up some and explain about the after all these years part. \u00a0What I mean is that Jaguar began producing iconic cars just after WWII:<\/p>\n<p>Starting with the 1949 XK120:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/jaguar-still-bringin\/xk120\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-983\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-983\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/XK120-300x131.jpg\" alt=\"XK120\" width=\"300\" height=\"131\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/XK120-300x131.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/XK120-150x65.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/XK120-1024x447.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/XK120.jpg 1832w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Followed by the XK 140 and pictured here, the XK150:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/jaguar-still-bringin\/jaguar-xk150\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-984\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-984\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-xk150-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"jaguar-xk150\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-xk150-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-xk150-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-xk150-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-xk150.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not finished yet, the MK2 Saloon (Sedan):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/jaguar-still-bringin\/jaguar-mk2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-985\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-985\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-Mk2-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"jaguar-Mk2\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-Mk2-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-Mk2-150x93.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jaguar-Mk2.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And possibly the most iconic of all, the E-type:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/jaguar-still-bringin\/etype-jag\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-986\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-986\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/etype-jag-300x193.jpg\" alt=\"etype-jag\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/etype-jag-300x193.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/etype-jag-150x96.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/etype-jag.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on any of those photos to enlarge. \u00a0Now for the still bringin&#8217; it part: \u00a0the 2015 F-Type V-6 Coupe<\/p>\n<p>Let me say first of all, this is not a first person review. \u00a0I have not driven the car, these are my impressions based on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/reviews\/2015-jaguar-f-type-v-6-s-coupe-first-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\">this review in Car and Driver.<\/a>\u00a0 Having gotten that out of the way, first impressions: This is a very good looking car, if a little Aston-Martin-ish. \u00a0However, Aston builds a damn good looking car, so I guess imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, why not start with a winner. \u00a0Is it a classic to be? \u00a0Hard to say. \u00a0In my mind, one thing all the classics have in common is a blend of simple, sturdy elegance. \u00a0The elegance is there, but definitely no simplicity or sturdidity. \u00a0I think I just made up a word. \u00a0What would that be? \u00a0Sturdyness? \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t look sturdy &#8211; in fact it looks a little on the fragile side. \u00a0And needing maintenance is one thing. \u00a0God knows the old Jags needed it, but this looks like it might need more maintenance than any commercial airliner of your choice. \u00a0It looks&#8230;a little on the complicated side, though I guess that is a sign of the times. Still <em>very<\/em> nice looking, though.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_988\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/jaguar-still-bringin\/2015-jaguar-f-type-coupe-artists-rendering-photo-550409-s-1280x782\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-988\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-988\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-988\" src=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2015-jaguar-f-type-coupe-artists-rendering-photo-550409-s-1280x782-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"credit: Car and Driver\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2015-jaguar-f-type-coupe-artists-rendering-photo-550409-s-1280x782-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2015-jaguar-f-type-coupe-artists-rendering-photo-550409-s-1280x782-150x91.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2015-jaguar-f-type-coupe-artists-rendering-photo-550409-s-1280x782-1024x625.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ego-vero.net\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/2015-jaguar-f-type-coupe-artists-rendering-photo-550409-s-1280x782.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-988\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">credit: Car and Driver<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A six is under the hood, though not the legendary Jag straight six, the current powerplant is a supercharged 3.0 liter V-6 (other options are the same V-6 sans blower, and a supercharged 4.2 liter V-8). \u00a0The blown V-6 puts out 380 HP, sufficient to propel the F-type from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. \u00a0According to the review, hydraulic steering (no steer by wire! \u00a0I applaud!), adjustable suspension and 20-inch wheels make for a nimble, comfortable ride. \u00a0Comfort is what one expects from a Jag. \u00a0Also, some level of luxury and sophistication, which the cabin apparently provides. \u00a0No surprise since Jauguar has proven themselves adept at finding cows with very nice skin, peeling them and restitching it into seats and dash.<\/p>\n<p>This to me appears to be somewhat of a poor man&#8217;s Aston &#8211; well, not a &#8220;poor man&#8217;s&#8221; Aston, but a &#8220;well off but not stinkin&#8217; rich&#8221; man&#8217;s Aston. \u00a0Base price for this model is upwards of $78,000. \u00a0The review didn&#8217;t state price as tested, \u00a0but I&#8217;m sure if you want air in the tires or any other options, you&#8217;re looking at $100K+. \u00a0I might also call it a thinking man&#8217;s Aston, since for 99% of drivers, even those who fancy themselves hot shoes, this car is going to perform just as well for them in the public environment as an Aston, look just as good as an Aston, and&#8230;here&#8217;s the thinking part: cost about 1\/2 as much as an Aston. \u00a0Depending, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Since I stole the photo from Car and Driver, please click over there and read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/reviews\/2015-jaguar-f-type-v-6-s-coupe-first-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\">Erik Johnson&#8217;s more in-depth and much better written review<\/a> by way of thanks. \u00a0And click on some of their ads and buy some things&#8230;so they won&#8217;t sue me.<\/p>\n<p>Cross posted at <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.cuanaenterprises.com\/blog.php\" target=\"_blank\">Men Out Of Work Blog<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tweet After all these years, Jaguar is still bringin&#8217; it. \u00a0What am I talking about?
